Peer Review Process

Articles are peer-reviewed, on a single-blind (author-blind, reviewer-open) basis. Review process usually takes about 2-4 months on average, the first response is usually received within 1-1.5 months.
After initial manuscript checking by the editors, manuscripts that are found suitable for publication and fulfilling journal requirements are sent to two or more expert reviewers. Authors may be asked to suggest 2 or more reviewers during the submission process, however, the selection of the reviewers is at the sole discretion of the editor. The reviewers should not be affiliated with the same institutes as the authors/contributors.

Every manuscript is also assigned to a member of the editorial team, who based on the comments from the reviewers takes a final decision on the manuscript. The comments and suggestions (acceptance/ rejection/ amendments in the manuscript) received from reviewers are conveyed to the corresponding author. If required, the author is requested to provide a point-by-point response to reviewers’ comments and submit a revised version of the manuscript. This process is repeated till reviewers and editors are satisfied with the manuscript.
Manuscripts accepted for publication are copy edited for grammar, punctuation, and format.

Reviewer invitations are sent by email from the journal's editorial submission system.

Peer review/responsibility for the reviewers

  • Judgments in peer reviewing should be objective. The process of peer reviewing depends to a large extent on trust and requires that everyone involved behaves responsibly and ethically.
  • Reviewers should have no conflict of interest with respect to the research, the authors and/or the research funders. Reviewers should point out relevant published work which is not yet cited.
  • Reviewed articles should be treated confidentially; reviewers therefore should keep manuscripts and the information they contain strictly confidential. Reviewers must not publicly discuss authors’ work and must not appropriate authors’ ideas before the manuscript is published. Reviewers must not retain the manuscript for their personal use and should destroy copies of manuscripts after submitting their reviews.
  • Reviewers are expected to respond promptly to requests to review and to submit reviews within the time agreed. Reviewers’ comments should be constructive, honest, and polite.
